A week or so ago I had a cookie exchange with some friends. My contribution was homemade chocolate peanut butter cups. This was a really easy recipe although it is a bit time consuming but worth every minute. You will find the original recipe here: Homemade Chocolate Peanut butter cups.
I will repost it for you with my notes:
- 1 (11.5 ounce) package milk chocolate chips, divided
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
- mini muffin cup liners
Directions
- Place 1/2 chocolate chips in a microwave safe container. Microwave for 2 minutes, stirring after each minute. Spoon melted chocolate into muffin cups, filling halfway. With a spoon, draw the chocolate up the sides of the cups until evenly coated. Cool in the refrigerator until firm.
- In a small bowl, mix together peanut butter, confectioners' sugar and salt. divide into the chocolate cups. Melt the remaining chocolate, and spoon over peanut butter. Spread chocolate to edges of cups.
You can also use a Crock pot to keep the chocolate warm but be careful not to let it get burnt. It happened to me. These are delicious and sooooooooooooooo much better than the store bought ones.
And don't let your kids in the kitchen while your making this or you may see them disappearing.

Oh yum! You are making me fat!
ReplyDeleteI really want some of those.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that would make these any better would be to use dark chocolate! They would be great for Thanksgiving. Hint, hint.
ReplyDeleteMy family would go nuts over these!
ReplyDeleteYummy yummy! I love peanut butter cups
ReplyDeleteDelicious! I made these years ago and my husband would be thrilled if I did it again. We love anything combining chocolate and peanut butter!

Oh yum. I hate you for posting this. Lol.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried lightly spraying the muffin liners? I don't know if that would create a nasty residue or not, so that's why I'm asking. :)
