Helping the Joplin tornado victims

If you are around Indy, the Red Cross is having a drive-through collection event for the victims of Sunday's deadly tornado in Joplin, Mo.

"The Colts will team up with Lucas Oil Products and the American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis to host a drive-through collection at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center at 7001 W. 56th Street from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The only items that will be accepted are cases of bottled water, packages of new disposable diapers and cash or checks made payable to the Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis."   From the IndyChannel.com.

Those who can't take part in Tuesday's drive are asked to support relief efforts online at www.redcross-indy.org.

If you aren't in Indy check out the RedCross.org to see how you could help.  And if nothing else, please keep praying.

Praying for Sara

My sister-in-law Sara has been through a lot in the last 18 months.  From seziures to her baby being born with a heart condition to her baby having to have heart surgery not once but twice to someone shooting up her house and car around New Years to today.  They have had a massive tornado in her hometown and while she, her husband and her baby are safe their house did not fair as well.  Half their roof is gone.  The shed and the deck are gone.

The high school was severely damaged as well as the local hospital.  The Wal-mart was destroyed.  Her husband and baby had just left there.  We are still finding out more but I am asking that you please pray for the town of Joplin, Missouri and please pray for my SIL and her family.

Here is the Wal-mart where my brother-in-law and nephew were in.

There is live streaming here telling about more of the devastation.

We are incredibly thankful that God is merciful and spared their lives.  But now there is much to do because their house is half destroyed so they will need a lot of support in the coming days.

And if you need a visual here they are:

A Prayer for Rachel

I have a friend that I have reconnected with on Facebook.  We went to elementary school together but I haven't actually seen her in years.  But we have talked recently via Facebook and I just found out that she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia,

She has also lost her sight although from what I have read she may get it back within a few months.  She is a Christian.  She is also married with two little beautiful girls.

These are the most urgent requests from her family right now:

1. That her eyesight would improve drastically and soon.  This would be a huge encouragement to her.

2. That her body would accept the chemo and that side effects would be minimal.

3.  Pray for rest
.

"
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; the humble shall hear of it and be glad.  Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.  I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."  Psalms 34:1-4

Please pray for Rachel and her family.
