How to freeze pizza dough and a recipe

We love pizza in this household and I am always trying new pizza crust recipes because I just feel like I need to find 'THE ONE'. My latest one is a whole wheat pizza crust that I really like.

You may find the recipe here. It is 100% whole wheat. As usual I use the King Arthur's White Whole Wheat flour because it is good (at least I think so).

Here is where my tip comes in, I make this dough and then I press it down onto my pizza stone. I bake it as directed for 5 minutes. I cool it and then I carefully use some spatulas to lift it onto some plastic wrap, wrap it with plastic wrap and then foil.

When you are ready to bake this, here is what you do: get it out of the freezer, set it on the pizza stone (or whatever pan you use) and top it and bake it! That is it, you do not have to thaw it first.

I have done this several times now and it always works very well.

  1. So you have these in the freezer, ready to go, any time your family feels like having pizza. Very nice! So much better than store-bought.

  2. I have wondered how to do this. We LOVE pizza at our house too. We have it every 10 days. If it were up to my family we'd have it once a week! I'm going to try this out.

  3. What a great idea - and so good that it is a whole wheat recipe too!

  4. That is genius! Hopefully someday I'll have a bigger freezer to be able to try it ;)
