Snow, Baking Powder and Santa

We have had SO MUCH snow lately and we are getting more tomorrow.  I do like snow especially when I don't have to get out in it.  Anyway, the kids like it.  They like to look at it and they like to spend about 7 minutes out in it.  Too bad it takes us 20 minutes to get ready to go out.

We had our Christmas in Missouri and it was so great.  My mother-in-law asked one of her co-workers to dress up as Santa and he came over and listened to what my kids wanted for Christmas.  My best friend, Heather's son Seth also came over.  (She lives 3 or 4 houses away from my in-laws and it is so great when we visit because we can just walk there.)  So as soon as Seth walks in the door he starts saying, "That's a fake Santa."  Luckily, she took him out for a talk before my kids heard him.

My sweet little nephew also was able to have his first visit with Santa. Yes, and my sister-in-law is wearing her ugly Christmas sweater.

Another fun thing that happened was that Heather and I baked cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  We took some to Aunt Celia too:)  I love Heather.  I really can't express how much I love that girl.  We talk almost twice a day and have for about 6 or 7 years.  It is ridiculous really.  I should also mention she is married to my husband's friend which works out fabulously for us.  In fact we are almost related because her husband's brother is married to my husband's cousin.  Confusing right?  Nonetheless, Heather and I were roommates during college.  Well, I was roommates with her sister Gwen first and then Heather joined us.  We know each other pretty well so I was not at all surprised to find that her baking powder had expired.  But it had not expired recently.  It had expired in 2002!  And I tried to throw it away but she got it out of the trash.  When I showed her I had bought her some new baking powder she allowed me to throw her other stuff away.

I love that girl!

And my sister-in-law and brother-in-law wore their ugly Christmas sweaters.  Although I still think they look adorable.

And my littlest man Caleb was so funny when we were opening presents.  When we passed them out, he methodically took all of his gifts to the entryway which was away from all of us.  He then wanted to open other people's gifts.  When he decided that he wanted to open his presents, he went over there by himself and quietly opened them all.  It was so funny.

I could go on and on, but this may be enough pictures for this post.  I'll update more later.  Merry Christmas Eve Eve everyone!

  1. I am in shock about the baking powder. Once we were at Josh' grandpa's and found yogurt that had expired in 1992. This may not have been odd if it were only 1993 or something, but this was in 2003. Talk about scary
