And Some More Praise

You might remember how we sold our house after being on the market for less than a month.  Of course selling a house is one thing but figuring out where you are going to live after that house is sold is a whole different ball game.   You see we expected the house to take a year or so to sell given current housing market conditions (or what people would lead you to believe about the housing market).  So, we didn't really have a great plan for what we should do after our house sold.

After praying and searching we decided it would be best for us to rent for now, what with a new baby coming and all.  The problem there was that we needed more space and we didn't want to spend a ton of money on rent and we wanted to stay within a certain area.  I looked everyday and called on more than 7 houses to rent.  Every time I would get the same response - that house has an application on it and even a back up application.

It wasn't looking good until . . .

My sister called me because she has some friends in her church that own rental properties.  I called this lady and she had one property that would fit our needs perfectly - 4 bedrooms, 2 car garage, stand alone house, fenced in backyard in our price range.  The problem - the house was up for sale and it had a contract on it. But they did have another house that would be almost ready to rent.  The problem - three bedrooms, 1 bath, smaller than what we have now with a one car garage.  We were prepared to take the smaller house - it was less money afterall.

Then the phone call - the lady called us back and told us just to come look at the 4 bedroom in case the deal fell through.  We did and we really liked it.  It met our needs perfectly but we were not getting our hopes up.  It was a few days later and she called back and told us that the contract had fallen through and we could rent the house.  And she would be flexible with our lease in case we found a house to buy before the year was up.

It was a huge answer to prayer.  Not only was our prayer answered, but it was answered above and beyond what we had asked for.  And throughout this process - peace.  I have had so much peace even though I am almost ready to have a fourth child.  Even though we have to pack up our entire house and move it sometime in the near future.  Even though we don't have a closing date yet.  Even though we have never sold a house before.  I have peace.  I can't explain it.  I just have faith that God will supply all my needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus.  And even if I did not have faith - God is faithful - He cannot deny Himself.

I realize not everything works out perfectly every time.  But as I have learned through reading Job, we praise God in all circumstances.  So no matter what, I have to trust Him.

Shall we receive Good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?
--Job 2:10

The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

--Job 1:21
